Delhi to Manali Taxi Booking - And snapshot of full trip

Nestled at the northern end of the Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh, the eight thousand-strong town of Manali has become a haven for those who like to spend their holidays at a hill station away from the warmer weather of the rest of the country. Historically marking the start of a trade route on to Ladakh and past the Kunlun Range to Hotan in China, Manali has become a popular tourist destination in recent years.

Climate:

Manali is at an altitude of 6726 feet above sea level. Owing to its altitude and mountainous surroundings, the town has a subtropical highland climate, with temperatures during the winter months (December through March) dropping lower than -5 deg C. Getting there:

Travelling from Agra to Delhi can be conveniently ensured by availing any of the following automobile transportation services, which are mentioned below:

  • Taxi booking services:- 10hrs - This is the best option for a trip from Delhi to Manali. As the journey involves more than 250km, car rental is not advisable. A taxi booking service can give you competitive rates that you can compare against other services that take you from Delhi to Manali. A general tip is to avoid per-kilometre charging, as the cabbie taking a longer route can cost you more than a prepaid taxi booking service.
  • Car - 10hrs - You can also take your own car to travel from Delhi to Manali. It is, however, not advisable to do so during the monsoon and winter months (June to September; November to February) because of the increased possibility of landslides or black ice and other mountainous calamities that create risky road conditions. Parking can be hard to obtain during the summer.
  • Bus - 9 to 10hrs - If you couldn't avail of a taxi booking service, or if you do not want to travel by car, the bus service offers a good alternative. Book in advance to ensure that you get seats, and stick to government-operated buses as far as possible.

  • Flight - The closest airport to reach Manali is Bhuntar Airport, 50km away. Air India operates regional flights from Delhi, but the service is irregular and airfares high.

Things to Note:

  • Begin your day early, especially if you're going sightseeing.
  • Avoid package trips or travel agents if you prefer having your own schedule.
  • Be prepared for off-season cold or wet weather.
  • Water scarcity is common problem in winter, and you may also have to walk a lot to visit some places.
